LPI® ILC36V LOAD CELL SURGE PROTECTOR
Product Description
The LPI ILC36V has been developed to offertransient over-voltage protection to sensitivestrain gauge based load cells and signalconditioners. It is configured to provide voltageclamping across the strain gauge outputs as wellas the excitation voltage from the signalconditioner. A low capacitance connection toearth helps to avoid earth loops, whilst providing areliable current path under transient conditions.
Operation
The ILC36V transient protectors are designed forthe protection of sensitive strain gauge basedmeasuring equipment from the damaging effectsof lightning surges, transients and RFinterference.
The lines are protected by shunt - connected,common-mode over-voltage transient diodes.These diodes connect from each protected line tothe cable screen pin. An additional diode is used toprovide transverse mode protection across the loadcell bridge output.
The cable screen pin is then connected to earth viaa low capacitance gas filled arrestor. In this waynoise via device capacitance is eliminated.
Application
The ILC36V load cell surge protector is designed foruse with load cells using four wire or six wireconnections to a strain gauge bridge. It is installedin series with the line to be protected.
